I think more than anything, people and relationships fascinate me. People, because anywhere you go, every person you see who you have never met has a story. A whole life they have lived so far. And you know none of it. And you look at them, and you look at the clothes they wear, and the way they walk, and the expressions on their faces, and you make an assumption about them. You can’t help it, it’s human nature. But they have a whole life they’ve lived, and things they’ve experienced, and they’ve cried and felt unimaginable pain and loss just like you, and they’ve laughed and felt like they’d go crazy with love. And multiply this by 7 billion. We are all…so distant, yet all so connected.

In the same way, relationships fascinate me. The people we choose to be around. We begin to know their story, and we choose to stay with them, or choose to be their friend, because we like the kind of person they are. But who do you really know, all the way through and through? How many people in your life do you know them down to the core, every facet of their being? It takes a lifetime. And even further, you can get to know someone as much as anyone can get to know anyone, and then you can grow apart. You can love someone with all your heart, and then something can happen and you might not see them again for one reason or another. Then you might look at a picture of them one day and realize that even if you did see them today, you’d be different than you were, and they’d be different than they were, and that connection that you once had wouldn’t necessarily be there anymore. You’d have to start over because the story had changed. You would have experience different things and felt different pain and loss, and different crazy joy and love. And you’d be the same person, but different. And so would they. Because as life happens, every day, you change. I change. Everyone does.
